A77 WAL private number plate

A77 WAL is a prefix-style registration featuring a distinctive numeric pattern. The layout of one letter, two numbers, and three letters creates a six-character plate with a balanced appearance. The pairing of the two sevens, 77, forms a repeated-digit motif, which can often add visual memorability and appeal for collectors.

The plate includes the initials WAL, which represent mid-market popularity within the UK. The A at the beginning of A77 WAL further isolates these initials, making them more prominent. The numeric element, 77, falls into the double-digit band (10 to 99), and generally, lower numbers within this band tend to be more sought after.

The prefix format was introduced as part of the numbering scheme that began in 1983. This specific registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2020. It sold for £10,180 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £13,071. Plates of this style are commonly associated with the London area.
