AHO 3 private number plate

AHO 3 is a four-character dateless registration with a popular layout. The short format is highly sought after, and as a letters-first dateless plate, it carries the timeless look associated with dateless registrations. Such formats, with fewer digits and a distinctive typographic style, have historically held strong appeal for collectors. This particular registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2024. It sold for £10,010 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £12,853.

The initials AHO offer a range of personal connections. Dateless registrations with initials are a key driver of buyer motivation, with personal relevance being the leading reason for acquiring a private plate. The popularity of the AHO initials is considered decent, suggesting a broad potential buyer pool.

As a dateless registration, AHO 3 does not show a year identifier, providing a clean and classic appearance. Registrations from this early issue era, particularly those with fewer characters and a letters-first format, are recognised for their enduring appeal. The number 3 represents a very low number in this format, typically enhancing its desirability among enthusiasts.
