BAS 5 private number plate

BAS 5 is a four-character registration in a popular three-letter, one-number format. Its dateless status means it does not show a year identifier, offering a clean and timeless look highly favoured by collectors. As a dateless registration, the format itself is associated with the earliest eras of UK vehicle registration, an aspect that adds historical and collector interest.

The number 5 is a low digit, often considered more desirable than higher numbers within its band. This shorter, more distinct numerical element contributes to the plate's compact and memorable appeal. The "BAS" initials hold potential for personal significance, catering to buyers seeking a registration that reflects their name or a chosen moniker. Dateless plates with letters-first formats, like this one, are generally more sought after than comparable numbers-first examples.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2001. It sold for £7,500 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £9,694.
