BU71 ERS private number plate

The current style registration BU71 ERS is a 7-character plate format of two letters, two numbers, followed by three letters. This style of registration, first introduced in September 2001, features a unique structure that breaks down into a recognisable memory tag combined with a date identifier. The 'BU' portion represents the first two letters of the registration, and the '71' indicates the year it was issued, falling within the period of September 2021 to February 2022. The accompanying 'ERS' completes the registration.

BU71 ERS was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2022. It sold for £10,110 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £12,981. This means it is not a period-issue registration and did not exist in circulation before that date. Its format aligns with the current UK registration system, which offers a clean and modern aesthetic. The 'BU' memory tag for this plate points to the Birmingham DVLA office, indicating its place of issue under the current system.

The plate's structure and recent issuance suggest a focus on a clean, contemporary look. While there are no directly interpretable word or name readings from the registration itself, the format may appeal to buyers seeking a clear and modern identifier. The 'BU' initials are considered to have niche to low demand, suggesting a more exclusive appeal.
