DAV 11D private number plate

The private number plate DAV 11D has a six-character suffix format, featuring three letters followed by two numbers and then a final letter. This layout creates a compact and clear presentation. The registration directly presents the initials DAV, which could appeal to individuals or businesses with these as their leading letters. The suffix system, of which DAV 11D is an example, ran from 1963 to 1983. However, this specific registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 1996, meaning it first entered circulation then. It sold for £9,400 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £12,150.

The design of DAV 11D also allows for a strong personal reading; the letters DAV, combined with the visual substitution of the two 1s for an 'I', and the final D, give it the look of the popular first name 'DAVID'. This could suit someone named David or a family with a prominent David, offering a distinct and personalised mark. Furthermore, the number '11' features repeated identical digits, a pattern that can enhance visual appeal and memorability. Registrations with repeating numbers often carry a unique aesthetic quality.
