EMZ 9 private number plate

EMZ 9 is a distinctive four-character dateless UK private registration. It features a classic three-letter followed by one-number layout (three letters followed by one number), originating from Northern Ireland. The number 9 holds status as a low single digit, generally considered more appealing than higher numbers within its sequence. This format, with fewer characters, contributes to a clean and immediately recognisable registration.

The initials EMZ offer a concise personal touch, potentially suiting individuals named or associated with those initials. While not a widely common set, EMZ represents a niche appeal, making it a unique identifier. The fact that 69% of motorists surveyed cited personal connection, such as initials, as their primary motivation for purchasing a private plate highlights this aspect of buyer interest.

This particular registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2024. It sold for £7,000 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £8,988. Registrations of this style, with fewer characters and a clean dateless format, tend to attract interest from a broad range of buyers looking for a concise and impactful identifier for their vehicle. The format itself shares characteristics with those first issued in earlier eras of vehicle registration, lending it a timeless appeal.
