FMZ 4 private number plate

The registration FMZ 4 is a compact four-character plate featuring three letters followed by one number. As a dateless registration, it possesses the clean look associated with earlier issues and does not show a year identifier. The format of three letters followed by a single digit is generally considered desirable due to its simplicity and visual balance.

The number 4, being a single digit in the lower range, adds to the plate's appeal. This style of registration is often sought after for its potential as a personal initials plate. The letters FMZ offer a distinct set of initials, which may appeal to individuals wishing to represent their name or brand. The initials FMZ are considered to have niche to low demand, suggesting a greater level of rarity and exclusivity.

FMZ 4 directly matches a key element of the BMW M's Z4 model designation, specifically the 'Z4'. This makes the plate a plausible choice for owners or enthusiasts of BMW M Z3 M, Z4 M, or Z8 vehicles, offering a direct link to a specific automotive lineage. The number 4 visual substitution for the letter 'A' is a common and accepted practice in personal registrations, although in this instance, the numerical value of 4 is its primary reading.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2026. It sold for £3,410 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £4,215.
