HAW 1Y private number plate

HAW 1Y is a five-character suffix-style registration. The format of three letters followed by a number and a letter is a clear and recognisable style. The number 1 is present in the registration, a number that carries significant recognition and appeal. The letters HAW are a common initial set, offering a broad appeal to individuals with those initials. The single letter Y adds to the initial combination.

The suffix registration system was in use between August 1982 and July 1983. Registrations from this era have a clean, dateless appearance, not showing a year identifier. This style of plate is often sought after for its straightforward and classic aesthetic. While HAW 1Y was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2005, its suffix format allows it to be associated with the design conventions of that period. It sold for £1,600 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £2,021.
