JES 2S private number plate

JES 2S is a five-character suffix-style registration featuring three letters, a single digit, and a final letter. This format of three letters followed by one number and one letter presents a tidy layout. The reading includes the strong initials JES as a prominent feature. The final S may serve as a standalone initial, or combine with the preceding characters.

The registration's embedded number 2 stands out due to its status as a single digit, making it generally more sought after than double-digit numbers, which are typically more popular than triple digits, and so on. Lower numbers within each band tend to carry stronger appeal, and a single digit contributes to a shorter and cleaner registration overall.

This specific registration, JES 2S, was first released to the open market via DVLA auction in November 2022. It sold for £13,500 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £17,334. The suffix system, which this plate style emulates, ran from 1963 to 1983, with the ‘S’ suffix broadly associated with registrations issued from August 1977 to July 1978.
