MFT 2 private number plate

MFT 2 is a four-character dateless registration with a three-letter, one-number format. Such short, concise registrations are typically sought after for their clean aesthetic and immediate readability. The number 2, as a very low number in the dateless series, contributes to its visual appeal and is generally considered more desirable than higher numbers within its format class.

As a dateless registration, MFT 2 does not display a year identifier and carries the timeless look associated with earlier UK number plates. These registrations often appeal to collectors and individuals seeking a registration that stands apart from current formats. The format of three letters followed by one number is also distinctively concise, a characteristic that often enhances desirability.

The initials MFT are considered to have decent popularity, suggesting a potentially broad appeal to individuals or businesses with those initials. The plate's structure, being letters-first, is also a notable aspect. Historically, dateless plates from this era, particularly those in a letters-first format, are often viewed as holding a significant place in UK registration history.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2012. It sold for £3,200 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £4,147.
