OSB 2 private number plate

OSB 2 is a dateless registration, indicating it does not show a year identifier and has the clean look associated with dateless registrations. Its format is three letters followed by one number, meaning three letters followed by one number, resulting in a short four-character plate. Within dateless registrations, formats with letters first are generally more sought after and carry historical collector interest.

The number 2 is a standalone low number, a pattern that typically holds strong appeal. For dateless registrations, the number 2 is significantly more desirable than higher numbers. The OSB initials, while not top-tier in popularity, have a decent following, suggesting a broad audience of potential buyers. This combination of a short, dateless format with a desirable low number and recognisable initials creates a compelling registration.

This registration was first offered to the open market via DVLA auction in 2018. It sold for £6,800 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £8,813.
