About private number plate REU 8
REU 8 is a four-character dateless registration with a three-letter, one-number format. Its short length contributes to a clean and desirable aesthetic, often favoured by collectors. The number 8 is a low single digit, typically considered more sought after than higher numbers in dateless registrations, offering a desirable visual appeal.
This registration represents a format that originally circulated in the Derbyshire area between the early 1930s and mid-1950s. Dateless registrations from this earlier period often hold significant historical and collector interest due to their longevity and distinctive appearance.
REU 8 was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2020. It sold for £15,000 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £19,260.
