REU 85 private number plate

REU 85 is a five-character dateless registration presented in a three-letter followed by two-number format. As a dateless plate, it does not show a year identifier, offering the clean look associated with registrations from earlier eras. This format, with its clear separation of letters and numbers, provides a straightforward and memorable registration.

The number 85, being a two-digit figure within the 10 to 99 band, holds broad appeal. Dateless registrations from this classification period typically featured fewer digits, contributing to their shorter, cleaner aesthetic. Registrations from the era when this format was issued are generally more sought after due to their association with the earliest stages of UK vehicle registration, adding historical and collector interest.

With its three-letter initial set REU, the plate has potential for owners looking for a personal touch. Initials-based registrations are a leading reason for purchasing a private plate, with a personal connection being a significant driver for buyers.

REU 85 was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2021. It sold for £10,010 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £12,853.
