SAS 77 private number plate

SAS 77 presents a clean and symmetric five-character registration. Its dateless nature means it does not show a year identifier, offering a timeless look often sought by collectors. The format is three letters followed by two numbers, a popular layout for its clear visual appeal.

This registration features a matched pair of digits in its closing numbers, 77, creating a pleasing repetition that enhances memorability and visual symmetry. Such paired digits are known to add a distinctive rhythm to a registration, a characteristic that appeals to pattern collectors. The 'SAS' initials precede the numbers, offering a personal touch.

The initials 'SAS' are considered to have strong appeal, suggesting a broad potential buyer pool. Purchasers often seek registrations that align with their initials, making this a viable option for individuals with this surname or given names starting with S. Surveys indicate that personal connection, particularly names or initials, represents the leading motivation for acquiring a private registration.

SAS 77 was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2021. It sold for £15,180 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £19,491.
