SOT 6 private number plate

SOT 6 presents a compact, four-character dateless registration. Its letters-first format, with three letters followed by a single number, is historically recognised as a desirable style from the earliest era of UK vehicle registration. Such short dateless plates, particularly those with a one-digit number, are often sought after by collectors for their clean aesthetic and historical resonance.

The number 6 at the end of SOT 6 positions it within the band of low single-digit numbers, which typically carry a stronger appeal within the dateless hierarchy due to their scarcity and visual prominence. The initials SOT are considered to have decent popularity, suggesting a potentially broad base of interest among individuals whose names or businesses start with these letters.

This specific registration, SOT 6, was first released to the open market via a DVLA auction in 2015. It sold for £1,600 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £2,074.
