SSS 55 private number plate

The registration SSS 55 presents a compelling combination of features for collectors and enthusiasts. Its five-character format, with three letters followed by two numbers, is a classic dateless style. This format, associated with registrations issued in the circa 1932 to 1953 period, offers a clean, timeless aesthetic, a look that is widely appreciated by those seeking a registration without a year identifier.

The plate's appeal is significantly enhanced by its patterned nature. The repeating 'SSS' letters create a strong visual rhythm, making the registration memorable and distinctive. Furthermore, the paired '55' numbers contribute to this symmetry. Such repetition, whether in letters or numbers, often strengthens the aesthetic and collector appeal of a registration, providing a pleasing visual balance.

As an initials plate, SSS 55 holds considerable potential. The 'SSS' initials are generally considered to have broad appeal, suggesting a larger potential audience for this registration. For individuals whose initials are SSS, this registration offers a direct and impactful personal connection. The number 55, being a lower double-digit number, also carries inherent collector interest within the dateless category, generally appealing more than higher numbers in comparable formats.

This registration is a dateless plate and was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2002. It sold for £5,500 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £7,109.
