SSW 3 private number plate

SSW 3 is a four-character dateless registration. The format is three letters followed by one number, a style that has the clean look associated with dateless registrations. This layout is typically considered more desirable due to its brevity and aesthetic appeal, fitting neatly onto a vehicle. The number 3 is a low, single-digit number, lending it a distinct visual presence.

The initials SSW are recognised as strong, offering broader appeal to a larger potential audience. For individuals with these initials, SSW 3 presents a concise and memorable identifier. This type of registration, with its classic letter-number combination, is highly sought after by collectors and those looking for a personal touch.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2015. It sold for £6,500 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £8,424. The dateless format itself is from an earlier era, broadly associated with registrations issued between the early 1930s and mid-1950s across various UK issuing authorities.
