SUR 85H private number plate

SUR 85H is a six-character suffix-style UK private number plate. The format displays three letters followed by two numbers and one letter, known as the three letters followed by two numbers, one letter configuration. This style, featuring a letter at the end to denote the year of registration, was in use from August 1969 to July 1970.

This registration format shares a similar aesthetic and chronological context with other suffix-era plates. While not a period-issue registration, its design aligns with the recognisable style of that period. It's important to note that SUR 85H was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2018. It sold for £10,400 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £13,478.

The plate is directly linked to Audi Sport models, specifically appearing as a potential match for the Audi R8 (V8/V10/GT) S, which may appeal to enthusiasts of this performance vehicle. Furthermore, the numerical sequence 85 sits within the generally sought-after double-digit range, offering a cleaner, shorter reading compared to longer plates.

The number 85, as part of the three letters followed by two numbers, one letter suffix format, presents a clear and concise registration. The number 85 is embedded within the plate, and its presence contributes to the overall visual appeal of the six-character sequence.
