VCW 2 private number plate

VCW 2 is a four-character dateless registration with a clean, classic layout of three letters followed by one number. This format is strongly associated with the earliest eras of UK vehicle registration, offering a distinguished and timeless appearance. As dateless registrations do not display a year identifier, VCW 2 possesses the enduring appeal favoured by collectors. Dateless plates from the pre-1963 period, such as this format, are often distinguished by their brevity and the strong visual impact of their letter-first arrangements.

The prominent number ‘2’ is a very low number, which typically carries significant appeal. In the hierarchy of numbers available on dateless registrations, single digits from 2 to 9 are generally considered more desirable than higher numbers. Coupled with the short, four-character format, VCW 2 presents a concise and impactful registration.

VCW 2 offers distinct potential for owners with these initials. The initials VCW are considered to have decent popularity, suggesting a broader potential buyer pool for those seeking a personalised registration that directly reflects their name.

VCW 2 was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2026. It sold for £7,510 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £9,282.
