WGZ 2 private number plate

WGZ 2 is a four-character dateless registration with a three-letter, one-number format. Its short layout and single digit contribute to an appealingly clean aesthetic. The number 2 is a very low number, typically desirable due to its rarity in shorter plate formats.

As a dateless registration, WGZ 2 does not show a year identifier, giving it the timeless look associated with older plates. Such registrations were issued across the UK before the current year-dependent formats were introduced. The registration WGZ 2 has the distinct look of a Northern Irish plate, originating from the Belfast area.

The initials WGZ themselves are in the niche to low demand category amongst potential buyers, suggesting a more unique appeal. This type of registration often appeals to individuals seeking to represent their own initials, offering a substantial degree of personal customisation. A DVLA survey indicated that personal connection, particularly initials or names, remains the leading motivation for motorists considering a private registration.

WGZ 2 was released to the open market via DVLA auction in April 2023. It sold for £2,800 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £3,595.
