XJM 1 private number plate

XJM 1 is a short dateless private registration with three letters followed by the number 1. The appeal of a number 1 plate for any set of initials is strong, representing the pinnacle of that initial combination, and XJM 1 has the clean look associated with dateless registrations.

The four-character format of XJM 1 contributes to its visual impact, making it easy to remember and display. Plates with fewer characters typically have broader appeal, and the single digit number 1 is especially desirable for many collectors. As an initials plate, XJM 1 offers a direct match for the initials X.J.M.

This specific registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2020. It sold for £20,010 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £25,693. Plates similar in style to XJM 1, with letters-first dateless arrangements, are broadly associated with the earliest registration era, when the original format was first issued in Northumberland circa 1932 to 1953. This offers a sense of heritage and history from earlier motoring.
