YES 4 private number plate

The registration YES 4 is a dateless plate with four characters, featuring three letters followed by one number. Its short, clean format is appealing, and the number 4 holds a place in the lower hierarchy of numbers. The initials YES are considered niche, suggesting a more focused buyer pool. This style of registration is broadly associated with the period from the early 1930s to the mid-1950s.

As a dateless registration, YES 4 does not show a year identifier and has the timeless look associated with earlier UK number plates. This category of registration, particularly those with very few characters pairing letters and numbers, is generally highly sought after by collectors. The format aligns with the characteristics of cherished registrations issued before 1963.

The number 4 offers potential for visual readings, with a 4 potentially substituting for the letter A. Its inclusion as a low number within a dateless format also contributes to its collector appeal. This specific registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2026. It sold for £10,010 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £12,372.
