About private number plate 1 OGU
1 OGU is a four-character dateless registration with a number-letter format. As a number 1 plate, it represents the pinnacle for its initials set, OGU, holding a distinct appeal for those seeking the foremost number. The short, dateless format is also a desirable characteristic for many collectors, offering a clean and uncluttered look.
The registration was first released to the open market via DVLA auction in May 2023. It sold for £11,190 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £14,368. This dateless style, originally issued by Leeds authority, is broadly associated with periods between the mid-1950s and early 1960s.
The initials OGU are considered niche with lower demand, suggesting a dedicated buyer pool. Such registrations are often sought by individuals looking for a personal connection, whether for a surname, initials, or a specific word or meaning unique to them.
Plate Circle brings together number plate history, value context, for sale listings, spotted records and verified sold-price history where available.
