1 WAU private number plate

The registration 1 WAU is a concise, four-character dateless plate, featuring a single number followed by three letters. It places the highly desirable number 1 at the beginning, making it the pinnacle expression of the initials WAU. This structure positions it as significantly more sought after than the same initials paired with higher numbers. The short format creates a clean and memorable look.

Plates featuring the number 1, particularly in a prominent position, tend to attract strong interest because they are considered a definitive identifier. The initials WAU hold niche demand, appealing most directly to individuals or entities with these specific initials. The single number format generally carries stronger appeal than plates with more digits, contributing to its collector interest.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2019. It sold for £4,600 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £5,962. The dateless format, with its letters-first appearance, is associated with plate designs that predate year identifiers and carry an aesthetic that is often sought after.
