198 G private number plate

198 G is a four-character dateless registration. Its format is three numbers followed by a single letter, presenting a concise and memorable layout. Dateless registrations, with their clean aesthetic, are highly sought after by collectors and a broad range of buyers seeking to personalise their vehicles. The shorter, numbers-first structure of 198 G offers a distinctive look.

The presence of the letter G means this registration can be used as a personal initial. Such registrations often appeal to individuals looking for a private mark that reflects their identity, aligning with a primary motivation for purchasing personalised plates as indicated by DVLA surveys. The number 198 itself is a standard three-digit number within the dateless range, part of a system that has seen sustained interest over many years. This particular registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2023. It sold for £10,500 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £13,482.
