4 EJG private number plate

4 EJG is a four-character dateless registration. Its format, a single number followed by three letters, is considered a desirable layout and offers a clean aesthetic. The number 4 is a low, visually appealing digit, often used as a substitute for the letter A. While number 1 holds a unique status for initials, lower single digits like 4 are generally more sought after than higher numbers on dateless plates. The initials EJG are in the mid-market popularity range, suggesting a broad potential buyer pool.

This registration saw its first public offering via DVLA auction in 2015. It sold for £4,500 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £5,832. Dateless registrations like 4 EJG, with their number-letter structure, are distinct from current UK registrations that include an age identifier. These earlier styles are often favoured for their pure, timeless look and their association with a significant period of UK vehicle registration history. The format is also relatively short, contributing to its visual appeal and ease of memorisation.
