45 O private number plate

45 O is a highly concise three-character dateless registration. Its short format aligns with the strong market appeal typically associated with registrations featuring fewer digits, making them visually clean and memorable. This plate offers broad potential for buyers seeking a personal initial, with the single letter 'O' being a recognisable and straightforward choice.

Dateless registrations such as 45 O have the timeless appeal of not displaying a year identifier, offering a clean aesthetic that predates modern formats. Historically, the issue of dateless registrations in the UK began with the Motor Car Act 1903, establishing the foundational system for vehicle identification. The Birmingham area was associated with the 'O' historic code, which was in use as an original single-letter area code. Within the dateless arrangement, short registrations with two characters, such as this plate's two numbers followed by one letter format, are often considered particularly desirable.

The plate was first released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2017. It sold for £51,000 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £66,096.
