6 XB private number plate

The 6 XB UK private number plate offers a concise three-character format, presenting a clean and uncluttered look. As a dateless registration, it does not display a year identifier, contributing to its timeless appeal. The plate's structure is a single number followed by two letters, a format that dates back to the earliest periods of UK vehicle registration. Such short, dateless plates have a notable historical significance and collector interest.

Displaying the number 6, this plate represents a very low number. In the hierarchy of dateless registrations, single digits generally hold stronger appeal and command greater attention than double-digit or higher number sequences. The format of a number first, followed by letters, is historically significant; however, dateless plates with letters-first formats are generally considered more sought after as they are associated with the earliest issue periods and their survival adds further to their collector interest.

The initials XB represent a niche, low-demand set. While the direct appeal of these initials may be more specific, the overall desirability of 6 XB is significantly enhanced by its short, dateless format and the prominence of the low number. Registration plates of this nature, with their minimalist structure, are often favoured by individuals seeking a distinctive personal identifier.

6 XB was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2016. It sold for £10,300 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £13,349.
