About private number plate 6 XG
6 XG is a compact, dateless UK private registration. With just three characters, its short format offers a clean and instantly recognisable aesthetic, appealing to buyers who value brevity and visual simplicity. Such three-character dateless registrations are historically among the most desirable formats, representing an early period in UK vehicle registration history.
As a dateless plate, 6 XG does not display a year identifier, giving it the timeless look associated with registrations from the earliest eras of vehicle licensing. The number 6 is a low digit, particularly in the context of a single-digit number, and such lower numbers generally tend to carry greater collector appeal. The 'XG' initials offer a discreet and versatile personal identifier for a wide range of individuals.
This registration was first released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2016. It sold for £10,000 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £12,960.
Plate Circle brings together number plate history, value context, for sale listings, spotted records and verified sold-price history where available.
