6 YM private number plate

6 YM is a straightforward three-character dateless registration. The dateless format, consisting of a single number followed by two letters, carries the clean look associated with earlier registration eras. Such short, dateless plates are typically sought after for their simplicity and historical appeal. The registration is associated with the London Central area, with the 'YM' code originally used there.

As a three-character registration, 6 YM is concise and easy to remember, a key factor in its desirability among buyers. The number 6 is a low digit, generally considered more appealing than higher numbers in dateless formats. The initials 'YM' fall into the niche or low-demand category, suggesting a more specific buyer pool rather than broad appeal. However, the overall structure benefits from its brevity and dateless characteristic.

This registration first entered circulation through a DVLA auction in January 2001. It sold for £4,500 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £5,816.
