About private number plate 60 O
The three-character registration 60 O presents a concise and appealing format, which typically holds strong collector interest. Its short layout, featuring two numbers followed by a letter, has the clean, distinctive look associated with dateless UK private registrations. Originally issued in Birmingham as part of the historic 'O' series, this format recalls the earliest era of vehicle registration.
Dateless plates are highly sought after for their timeless appearance, as they do not display a year identifier. The number 60 within the 10 to 99 band, paired with a single letter, offers a desirable structure that is generally more appealing due to its brevity and classic feel. The 'O' series, historically tied to Birmingham, adds a layer of regional significance and provenance to this registration.
This plate has been presented at a DVLA auction, first released to the open market in 2016. It sold for £95,000 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £123,120.
