8 OU private number plate

8 OU is a concise three-character dateless registration. Its short format is highly appealing, offering a clean and uncluttered look often sought after by collectors. As a dateless registration, it does not show a year identifier, contributing to its timeless aesthetic.

The number 8 is a low digit, generally considered more desirable than higher numbers within the dateless registration hierarchy. Paired with the initials OU, this registration presents a strong structure for personal identification. The initials OU are identified as rare, suggesting a more exclusive appeal.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2016. It sold for £11,600 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £15,034. While dateless registrations typically carry historic appeal due to their age, this plate's circulation began more recently. The format itself, a single number followed by two letters, is a classic and enduring style of UK private registration.
