8 XU private number plate

8 XU presents as a distinct three-character dateless combination, offering a clean and concise format favoured by many collectors. Its layout comprises a single number followed by two letters, a structure that is generally more sought after than registrations with more characters.

The number 8 at the start of the registration is a standalone low number, contributing to its visual appeal. Combined with the two letters XU, the registration carries a strong initial-led identity. The initials XU are classified as extremely rare, indicating a very limited field of comparable registrations and suggesting a narrower, more exclusive buyer audience.

As a dateless registration, 8 XU does not display a year identifier, giving it the clean, timeless look associated with this category of plates. The format of a single number followed by two letters is also particularly desirable. Registrations with fewer characters typically command greater market interest, and this three-character plate exemplifies that appeal.

This specific registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2024. It sold for £25,010 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £32,113.
