9 YT private number plate

9 YT is a concise, three-character dateless registration. Its layout of one number followed by two letters, one number followed by two letters, is a format associated with the earliest days of UK vehicle registration. Such short, dateless plates are held in high regard by collectors for their historical significance and clean aesthetic, not displaying a year identifier. The number 9 is among the lowest single-digit numbers available, contributing to the plate's straightforward appeal.

The dateless format of 9 YT implies a registration from before the current system of era-specific prefixes and suffixes was introduced. This style of registration is generally more sought after than those with more characters, with fewer digits usually indicating a more desirable and historically significant mark. The 'YT' initials are classified as niche-low-demand, indicating a smaller but dedicated pool of potential enthusiasts.

This registration offers potential for personal initials, with 'YT' forming the core of the identifier. While no specific word or name reading is evident, the compact three-character format and dateless nature are strong draws for many collectors and individuals seeking a distinctive mark. It was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2023. It sold for £25,600 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £32,870.
