996 T private number plate

The registration 996 T offers a compelling combination of a short, dateless format and direct automotive relevance. Its four characters present a clean and concise appearance, a trait generally favoured in the private registration market. The '996' element is particularly noteworthy as it directly mirrors a generation of the iconic Porsche 911. This could strongly appeal to owners, enthusiasts, or collectors of this specific automotive generation, offering a personalised touch that is both discreet and distinctive.

As a dateless registration, 996 T carries the timeless aesthetic associated with earlier issue periods, free from any year identifier. The numeric three-number, one-letter configuration is a classic layout, and its brevity enhances its visual appeal. The single letter 'T' at the end also presents potential for initials, offering a further layer of personalisation for buyers whose name or business begins with the letter T.

Historically, the number '996' is a significant identifier relating to a specific generation of Porsche 911. Dateless registrations of this calibre, particularly those with a clear automotive connection, tend to attract considerable interest. This particular registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2016. It sold for £11,800 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £15,293.
