About private number plate 2 YY
2 YY is a short dateless registration with one number followed by two letters, a format known for its clean appearance. The number 2 is a single digit, which typically carries more appeal than double, triple, or four-digit numbers when the letters and format are comparable. The plate features the initials YY, with the repetition of the letter Y creating a balanced and memorable visual. These initials may interest those whose name or organisation aligns with this pairing.
The format is a three-character dateless layout, contributing to its neat aesthetic. The letters-first dateless examples are generally more sought after than comparable numbers-first examples. This specific registration was first released to the open market via DVLA auction in 1995. It sold for £2,900 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £3,748.
Plate Circle brings together number plate history, value context, for sale listings, spotted records and verified sold-price history where available.
