7 UL private number plate

7 UL is a striking three-character dateless registration. The one number followed by two letters format, with a single number preceding two letters, presents a very clean and accessible layout, typical of earlier registration styles that hold significant appeal for collectors. This format, specifically the pairing of a low number with two letters, is known to be highly desirable. The number 7, as a single digit, is significantly more sought after in dateless plates than double or triple-digit numbers.

As a dateless registration, 7 UL does not show a year identifier, giving it the timeless look associated with earlier motoring eras. The letters UL together represent initials. DVLA surveys consistently show that personal connections, such as initials or names, are the leading motivations for purchasing a private registration, indicating a broad potential buyer pool for this plate.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2016. It sold for £9,100 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £11,794.
