IG 2 private number plate

IG 2 is a compact three-character registration. Its short format offers a clean and easily memorable aesthetic, which tends to appeal to many buyers seeking a distinctive personal plate. The two-letter, one-number layout is a popular style, presenting initials clearly.

As a dateless registration, IG 2 does not show a year identifier, contributing to its timeless look. While the era associated with this style of plate typically spans earlier registration periods, this specific registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2019. It sold for £26,500 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £34,344. This means it did not exist in circulation before that date.

The initials IG are considered mid-market in terms of popularity, suggesting a broad potential audience of buyers whose names or brands begin with these letters. Coupled with the low number '2', the registration has a strong appeal for those prioritising a short, easily read dateless plate with personal initials. The low single-digit number '2' ranks highly in desirability for dateless plates, usually outperforming higher numbers.
