WC 7 private number plate

WC 7 is a distinctive three-character dateless registration. Its format, two letters followed by a single number, is a classic and highly sought-after style. The number 7, as a single digit, adds to its visual appeal and contributes to its short, impactful layout. As a dateless registration, it does not show a year identifier, offering a clean look associated with earlier registration eras.

This style of registration, a two-letter code followed by a single number, is known for its inherent desirability. Such formats, where the letters precede the number, were among the earliest issue types and are generally more sought after. The Chelmsford area issued registrations with the WC prefix, suggesting a potential origin in the East of England.

The short, three-character format of WC 7 provides a strong and memorable registration. The initials WC themselves have decent popularity, suggesting a potentially broad appeal to buyers seeking a personal connection. Dateless registrations, particularly those with fewer characters, are often favoured by collectors for their timeless aesthetic and historical significance. WC 7 was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2002. It sold for £10,300 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £13,313.
